Middle age fitness will help you add zest and meaningfulness to your life right now.
Hold it. Wait a minute. Do you really want to end that vague feeling of frustration? Then jump on this important information listed below that will get you going towards your new life of accomplishment and satisfaction.
* Increase your Energy and Focus. The big secret is to get physical fitness.
A. Physical Fitness-Do you want to get energized and fit? I can’t emphasize too greatly the importance and necessity of staying physically fit. No I am not saying you need to be an Arnold Schwarazenegger, but you do need middle age fitness.
What I am saying is that you will find overcoming challenging situations much easier, if you are relatively fit physically. I am not referring to just physical challenges, but most importantly to emotional and mental challenges also.
There is no specific rule as to what constitutes good middle age fitness. The activity needed to put someone in “good condition” varies with the individual. Generally speaking, you want to do both cardio exercises and weight resistance training. This will give you middle age fitness fast.
I do both of the above. I find it challenging and satisfying. How much so? Well, let me say this, I just got out of surgery last week. Last Thursday to be exact. That following Monday I went back to my work out routine. Naturally I modified it somewhat, inorder to compensate for my 3 day hospital stay. I had carotid artery surgery. Removal of a 90% block carotid artery.
Do you want to be ready for life threatening surgery? Then get in shape right now. Don’t wait until you need the surgery, because then, it will be too late. You need middle age fitness right now.
What are the benefits of being in great shape when you have major surgery? Well, for one thing, there are less complications. In my case there were no complications.
Secondly, you heal much faster. I was in the “recovery room” for just a couple hours. Then I was placed in a regular cardiac hospital room. In fact my nurse, commented on how quickly I was “processed” from recovery to the cardiac room.
Speaking of recovery room, during my brief stay there, I heard some very interesting and encouraging comments from my assigned nurse who was watching over me while I was attached to all those heart monitoring tubes.
The machine that caught my attention was the heart beat monitor machine. It kept going off and ringing a loud noise. I asked the nurse if should could shut the thing up. She informed me that the machine was set to go off when my heart beat dropped to a certain number.
After a series of loud ringing noises from the machine, the nurse finally turned the heart beat monitor way down. And subsequently, the machine stopped ringing every other second.
Then, the nurse, to my surprise, came up to me, and informed me that I was very lucky man. Apparently, my heart beat rate was considered very low and “very stable”. She told me that lots of people would kill to have a stable heart beat rate like mine. I told her that I was an “athlete”. Then she understood why my heart rate was so stable. How’s that for middle age fitness?
Hey, don’t think I am Mr. “Perfect”. Not by a long shot. I smoked 2 packs of cigarettes for 35 years! Medical reports indicate ex-smokers like me start paying the bloody price for this terrible habit when they hit their 70’s.
It sounds like I am paying now. 18 months ago I had colon cancer. Last week I had a 90% carotid artery blockage. Hey, don’t feel sorry for me. I am still working out, have high energy, and enjoying life. Just like a used car, parts wear out, you fix them and keep going.
You see now, why it’s important to “work out”? Staying fit may not make you immune from not getting sick, but it will help you get through your sickness and recover much faster. Take a look at my efforts in the martial arts. I started out at age 57.
