Is life a vacation? Journey? Or destination? Could life be a combo of all three? Is it possible to have a 9-5 job and still feel like you’re on vacation? Can you be living life while making a living? Ok, what’s with all the questions? To begin a vacation, to journey somewhere - heck, to the supermarket, you first have to know where you’re going. Once you know the basic, then you can begin to dress for the journey, what to take, and how to get there. You decide whether to take a short cut or go the scenic route - keeping in mind that the shortest planned trip doesn’t guarantee that you’ll get there in the fastest time. You decide when to start, how long you’ll go for, who you’ll want to go with, and what you’ll do when you get there. You decide what career to pursue, where you’d like to live, what car you’d like to drive, the type of clothes you like to wear and why, the circle of friends you choose to hang with and why, the foods you eat and why. So why still the discontentment with your journey?

Whether we want to admit to it or not, we’re all on a life’s journey, vacationing and moving towards a destination! As a teenager I always lived in the moment entertaining the concept that my life was one big vacation. As I got older and wiser: I realized that to me, life is not just a vacation, but a journey as well and regardless if I’m physically planning a trip to an exotic island, as an individual I am on a journey and ultimately control my destiny, and the ability to live life in a state of being present, content, fulfilled and empowered by the choices I make, or live it in the past with what ifs, should haves and could haves.

Life is a journey because of what we experience - good and bad, we learn from them, emotions are evoked by what we’ve experienced. Every day we’re on this journey to discover things about ourselves that we both love and dislike. What adds value to our lives, we should nurture to grow stronger, and what adds no value we should become disengaged from.

So, as we continue in life’s journey towards our destination let us enjoy our vacation times, let’s make sure our journey includes more giving, forgiving, loving, contentment and thankfulness. And, if by chance you are unhappy with your present life’s journey, my question is “then what are you going to do about it?” Remember, you decide!
